Keanu Reeves to Voice Shadow in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”

In an exciting update for fans of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” film series, Keanu Reeves has officially been cast to voice the character of Shadow in the upcoming third installment. Reeves, celebrated for his roles in blockbuster franchises such as “John Wick” and “The Matrix,” will bring the enigmatic Shadow the Hedgehog to life on the big screen.

Shadow, known as the black hedgehog and often viewed as an antihero within the Sonic universe, serves as a complex foil to the cheerful and speedy Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz. The film will also see the return of Jim Carrey as the notorious Dr. Eggman.

The inclusion of Shadow follows the successful introduction of Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, in the franchise’s second film. This addition marks a continuation of integrating beloved characters from the original Sega video game series into the cinematic saga.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is being directed by Jeff Fowler and is slated for a theatrical release on December 20, 2024. While Paramount Pictures has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the casting, the anticipation among the Sonic community is palpable. Fans eagerly await to see how Reeves’s portrayal of Shadow will influence the dynamic of the ever-expanding Sonic universe.
