Paul Reubens, the actor and comedian best known for his role as Pee-wee Herman, has died at the age of 70.

Reubens’ death was confirmed by his manager, Charles Schlatter. The cause of death has not yet been released.

Reubens was born in 1952 in Peekskill, New York. He began his career as a stand-up comedian, and he created the character of Pee-wee Herman in the early 1980s.

Pee-wee Herman was a children’s show host who was known for his flamboyant personality and his catchphrase, “I know you are, but what am I?”

The Pee-wee Herman Show was a cult hit on CBS in the early 1980s, and it spawned a feature film, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, in 1985.

Reubens also starred in the films Big Top Pee-wee (1988) and Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special (1988).

In 1991, Reubens was arrested for indecent exposure in an adult theater in Sarasota, Florida. He was charged with two misdemeanors, and he pleaded no contest.

Reubens’ arrest caused a scandal, and he was dropped from several projects, including a Pee-wee Herman television series.

However, Reubens eventually made a comeback, and he starred in the films Mystery Men (1999) and Blow (2001).

He also returned to television, starring in the series Paul Reubens: Big Top Pee-wee (2006) and Pee-wee’s Playhouse (2016).

Reubens was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, and his death is a major loss. He will be remembered for his humor, his creativity, and his unique brand of childlike wonder.
