Manchester, England Manchester United have signed Danish striker Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta in a deal worth £64m.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract with United, with the option of a further year.

Højlund is a highly-rated striker who has been on the radar of several top clubs in Europe. He is known for his pace, power, and finishing ability.

He has scored 28 goals in 77 appearances for Atalanta, and he was a key member of the Denmark Under-21 team that reached the final of the European Championship last year.

“We are delighted to welcome Rasmus to Manchester United,” said United manager Erik ten Hag. “He is a talented young striker with a bright future ahead of him.

“Rasmus is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions up front. He is also a good finisher and has a strong work ethic.

“We are confident that he will be a valuable addition to our squad.”

Højlund is United’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

United are also expected to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona and Christian Eriksen on free transfers.

The Red Devils are looking to rebuild their squad after a disappointing season last year. They finished sixth in the Premier League and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Højlund is expected to be a key part of United’s attack in the coming seasons. He will be hoping to help the club challenge for trophies and return to the Champions League.
