Mumbai: Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who found herself stranded in Israel due to the outbreak of hostilities triggered by a terrorist attack by Hamas, has successfully returned to India. Initial reports had indicated that her team had lost contact with her during the turmoil.
“We have finally managed to get in touch with Nushrratt, and with the assistance of the Embassy, she is en route to India safely. Although we couldn’t secure a direct flight, she is on a connecting flight back home. For security reasons, we are unable to share more details at the moment, but rest assured that once she lands in India, we will keep you informed. We are immensely relieved and grateful that she is safe and on her way back to India,” stated the actor’s team in a recent press release.
In a subsequent update, her team confirmed that Ms. Bharuccha had boarded a flight to India and was expected to land in Mumbai around 2 pm. The actress has since arrived in the city.
The 38-year-old Bollywood star had traveled to Israel to attend the Haifa International Film Festival.
Ms. Bharuccha was in Haifa for the premiere of her film, “Akelli,” which also stars Israeli actors Tsahi Halevi and Amir Boutrous, known for their roles in the popular web series “Fauda.”
The recent conflict has taken a toll, with nearly 500 casualties reported as a result of Hamas’ rocket attacks on Israeli cities and Tel Aviv’s retaliatory strikes.
In the face of widespread condemnation of the terrorist attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to avenge the “black day.”
“Hamas has initiated a brutal and evil war. Despite the heavy price, we will emerge victorious,” he declared in a statement.
Meanwhile, the state of Palestine issued a statement amidst the ongoing conflict, emphasizing their repeated warnings about the consequences of stalling political progress and failing to enable Palestinians to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and establish their own state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep shock at the reports of terrorist attacks in Israel, stating, “We stand in solidarity with Israel during this challenging time.”
Indian citizens currently in Israel have been urged to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines. The Indian Embassy has issued an advisory stating, “Please exercise caution, limit unnecessary movements, and stay close to safety shelters.”
