Florida Player Wins Historic $1.58 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot

A single ticket sold in Florida matched all six numbers in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing to win the jackpot of $1.58 billion, the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

The winning numbers were 13, 19, 20, 32, and 33, with the Mega Ball number 14.

The jackpot had been rolling since July 8, when it was last won in California.

The winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize.

The winning ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket in Port Richey, Florida. The store will receive a $1 million bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $1.58 billion jackpot is the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history, behind the $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot won in January 2016 and the $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot won in October 2018.

The winner of the jackpot has the option to take the prize in a lump sum payment of $878 million or in 30 annual payments. The winner will also have to pay federal and state taxes on the prize.

The Mega Millions jackpot is drawn every Tuesday and Friday. The next drawing will be held on Friday, August 10.
