Andy Murray is looking to continue his rise up the rankings after a straight-sets win over Corentin Moutet in the first round of the US Open.

The 35-year-old Scot, who is ranked No. 113 in the world, has been in good form in recent months, reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and the semifinals of the Queen’s Club Championships.

Murray was in control throughout his match against Moutet, breaking the Frenchman’s serve four times and never facing a break point himself. He won the match 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 in just over two hours.

After the match, Murray said he was happy with his performance and that he was feeling confident in his game.

“I thought I played well,” Murray said. “I served well, I returned well, and I hit some good shots from the back of the court.”

Murray will next face the winner of the match between Alexander Bublik and Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round of the US Open.

Murray is hoping to make a deep run in the tournament and improve his ranking. He is also looking to win his first Grand Slam title since 2016.

“I’m feeling good,” Murray said. “I’m playing well, and I’m confident. I’m just going to keep taking it one match at a time and see what happens.”

Murray’s win over Moutet was his 200th Grand Slam singles win. He is the eighth male player in the Open era to reach that milestone.

Murray’s win was also a boost for British tennis. He is the only British player left in the singles draw at the US Open.

Murray is hoping to inspire a new generation of British tennis players. He said he wants to show that it is possible to succeed at the highest level after coming back from injury.

“I want to show that it’s possible to come back from injury and still play at a high level,” Murray said. “I want to be a role model for young players.”

Murray’s win over Moutet was a step in the right direction. He is now looking to continue his rise up the rankings and make a deep run in the US Open.
